Another compilation from Synth Club.

The participants in this project were asked to create a track
that utilized a Lo-fi recording technique. That was the only guidance.


Rhubarb- Dandelion
Dreadbox Nyx V1 into a Dreadbox Hypnosis, recorded onto a Fostex X-14 cassette 4 track and the creek behind my house recorded onto a dictaphone.

Captain Norton- Dance to your home
Recorded to Yamaha 4 track and bounced around. Drums recorded very hot with a no name mic. Bass direct. Keyboard was a Roland jp-03

Serge Vladimiroff- Game Overlord
Three tracks of Moog Grandmother into a Fender Sidekick Reverb 25 recorded with a 1950’s Voice of Music ceramic microphone

Adam Hosack- Dance of the Wurm
Model Cycles and modular recorded to the OP1 then re-recorded thru a battery powered amp and an underwater microphone multiple times and then layered the tracks

Vik44- Death of a Samurai 44
Koto sound to tape, then a bunch of parts are smashed with the FieldKit FX

Michael McInnis- Fly Lo-fi
Haken Continuum with some Kontakt samples recorded into a DAW. The tracks were then degraded using a combo of the Wires plugin and the UAD Ampex tape deck plugin

Ursidae- Petrichor
Composed with a digital piano and sampling/processing dedicated eurorack modular. I ran it through a series of degrading effects pedals to give it a lofi sound, and then through vinyl simulation VST’s while mixing. The title phrase is the word for the particular smell produced by the dirt and grass right after a rainfall

Ronzinoli- Droughnize
Roland System 1 Plug out SH-02 > Nemesis Delay> Holy Grail > Behringer BX300 Combo amp > Ipad mic>Garage Band

Garry Bowcott- The color of noise
Instruo TsL, Delptronics LDB, white noise, modular, Processed by Strymon Magneto with sampled tape noise

Ron Harrity- 2021.08.31B
Double Knot, Plumbutter, and Cocoquantus recorded to 2 track 1/4” tape

Lars Rynning- Understory
Elektron digitone, Bastl softpop and clarinet recorded to Marantz pmd 101
